Almonte Curling Club Wraps Up Another Successful Season

We have wrapped up another very successful season at the Almonte
Curling Club. Our 256 members have enjoyed a banner year with great ice
conditions and a varied program designed to address all curling interests.

This past season, our growing membership has generated the creation of
the new Tuesday morning league and several new special events: The
Almonte Cup, Friday Night Doubles and Hopspiels.

This past year, two of our teams challenged and won the historic Governor
General’s trophy which has been in competition for 144 years. The good
news continued when our Little Rockers capped off a fine season by
winning, in spectacular fashion, the Ottawa Valley Regional
Championship.

Our Learn2Curl program was another resounding success as the new
graduates were able to move into the established leagues with enthusiasm
and confidence. Once again, our school program brought many diffferent
classes into the Club to experience curling.

All of our leagues and programs flourished, and we had fun – primarily
because of our wonderful volunteers, who are the lifeblood of our Club.

I would like to thank Cathy Lunn Neil and Bob Farmer for their dedicated
service on the ACC Executive over the past several years. Their
contributions were instrumental in directing the Club’s operations into a
very solid position moving forward into 2019.

As the outgoing President, I am delighted to be able to turn the reins over
to Steve Conlon, who has a wealth of experience and a positive vision for
the future. The Almonte Curling Club is well positioned to provide the
essential curling programs for our membership and our community going
forward.
