Curling Leagues

The Almonte Curling Club has many different leagues for curlers of all levels. The fixed-team league offers a mildly competitive feel while draw leagues are more recreationally and socially oriented. New curlers may wish to stick with the draw leagues until they are comfortable with more aspects of the game. However, membership for leagues at the Almonte Curling Club is not limited based on experience. For more information on the leagues offered, consult the descriptions below and the weekly schedule.

LEARN 2 CURL

The adult LEARN 2 CURL program was developed by the Ottawa Valley Curling Association especially for people who would like to learn to curl through an organized course. LEARN 2 CURL provides 12 weeks of structured teaching by local trained instructors, with plenty of practice time on the ice. After the course is over, the program fee also covers free curling in regular league games (other than the Wednesday evening Fixed League) until April. For more information on the program contact John Ellis.

Monday Night Open League

Are you new to Mississippi Mills? Would you like to meet new people? The Monday Night Open League is the ideal mixed, social league for: new curlers; curlers with limited experience; and for experienced curlers seeking additional on-ice time. Our more experienced members are always more than willing to help novice members learn and understand more about the “roaring game”. This is an evening of fun, non-competitive play. The teams are made up each night, giving Monday night curlers more freedom to come when you are available. Once you have registered for Monday night, you will be placed on a team if and when you show up. You don’t have to worry about getting a spare if you can’t make it. We are encouraging new members and all levels of curlers to participate in this very fun league.

Monday evenings, starting at 7 p.m.

Fixed League Curling

Teams register and play together for the whole year. In some cases these teams may have played together for many years. Teams will be seeded into two divisions. There will be three full draws followed by playoffs. Teams will move up and down between the divisions after each draw.

Wednesday evenings, starting at 7 p.m.

Mixed League Curling

The draw runs several teams made up by the league organizers at the beginning of each session and each team plays together only for that session. Players are assigned positions on a team based on their experience and interest.

Thursday evenings, starting at 7 p.m.

Friday Mixed League Curling

The draw runs several teams made up by the league organizers at the beginning of each session and each team plays together only for that session. Players are assigned positions on a team based on their experience and interest.

Friday evenings, starting at 7 p.m.

Monday Morning Ladies League

Day Curlers

The day curlers have four days (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday) available to curl. The teams are made up on a first come, first served basis each day. When there are too many curlers, the late arrivals sometimes share a spot or they may have to go home. Hopefully this does not happen too often during the season.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, starting at 1 p.m.
